
A specially abled senior citizen died and his brother sustained minor burn injuries after a fire broke out at a house in Paharganj area of central Delhi on Tuesday, an official of the Delhi Fire Services said.
The DFS received a call about the fire at around 2:40 AM from Chuna Mandi area. The blaze was reported at a third-floor residence, following which two fire tenders were rushed to the spot, the official said.
The fire was brought under control by around 3:10 AM. Firefighters said the blaze was confined to domestic articles inside the house.
During the incident, Ramesh (60), who was specially abled, suffered severe burn injuries. He was evacuated from the premises and taken to Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital by a PCR van, where the doctors declared him brought dead.

His brother, identified as Naresh (58), sustained minor burn injuries on his hands during the incident, they said.
The exact cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained. Further investigation into the incident is underway, they added.
