The Delhi Traffic Police issued over 2,500 challans during an enforcement drive in the Northern Range to curb traffic violations and improve road safety, an officer said on Wednesday.

The drive was conducted at vulnerable locations with personnel deployed to ensure disciplined road use and smooth traffic movement.

Of the total challans issued, 2,041 were for improper parking, 383 for driving on the wrong side of the road and 87 for use of tinted glass, according to the traffic police.

The enforcement action focused on preventing vehicles from obstructing carriageways and tackling violations that could affect traffic flow and road safety, the officer said.

Traffic personnel were directed to maintain a visible presence at vulnerable locations and take action against motorists found violating traffic rules, the officer said, adding that a total of 2,511 challans were issued.

Improper parking was the most common violation detected during the drive, accounting for more than 2,000 challans. Police said such violations often narrow carriageways and contribute to traffic congestion.

“Action was also taken against motorists driving on the wrong side of the road, a violation that poses a serious risk to other road users, particularly on busy stretches,” the officer said.

Vehicles found using tinted glass in violation of prescribed norms were also prosecuted during the drive.
