Delhi Traffic Police on Wednesday held a multi-agency meeting with key civic and infrastructure agencies to review measures aimed at easing traffic congestion, improving monsoon preparedness and expediting infrastructure projects across Delhi.

The meeting, chaired by Special Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Manish Agarwal at the Police Headquarters, was attended by senior officers of the Delhi Traffic Police and representatives of the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI), Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC), Public Works Department (PWD), Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD), Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC), Transport Department, Delhi Jal Board (DJB) and Tata Power Delhi Distribution Limited (TPDDL).

“The meeting focused on reviewing the progress made in addressing identified congestion points, ensuring preparedness for the ongoing monsoon season and improving coordination among stakeholder agencies to minimise traffic disruptions,” a senior police officer said.

A detailed presentation was made on the issues taken up with various departments, the action taken so far and the status of proposed interventions. Police said the progress achieved reflected the positive outcomes of coordinated efforts among the participating agencies.

“The stakeholders also discussed measures to ensure the timely completion of ongoing infrastructure works, resolve inter-agency issues expeditiously and improve traffic flow across the city, particularly during the monsoon when waterlogging often leads to severe congestion,” the officer said.

Officers reiterated the need for seamless coordination among all departments to reduce bottlenecks and facilitate smoother movement of commuters.

Delhi Traffic Police said it would continue to hold periodic review meetings with all stakeholder agencies to monitor the implementation of congestion mitigation measures and strengthen traffic management in the national capital.
