Familiar faces from Delhi’s political scene, including Manoj Tiwari and Vijender Gupta, along with TV actors such as Himanshu Soni and Samiksha Bhatnagar, are set to take the stage at Delhi’s Ramlila this year, portraying iconic characters from the Ramayana.

Lav Kush Ramlila Committee president Arjun Kumar stated that this year’s event will feature a three-storey stage, with performances taking place on all levels. Additionally, one lakh LED lights will be used, he said.

Kumar also mentioned that social media influencers have been approved to promote the event.

BJP MP Tiwari will take on the role of Parashuram, while Gupta, the leader of the opposition in the Delhi assembly, will play King Janak. Former MLA Vijay Jolly will portray Rishi Vashishth, according to Kumar.

Former mayor Jathedar Avatar Singh will play Kumbhkaran, and AAP leader Brijesh Goyal will act as Meghnad, he added.

Kumar further revealed that actor Himanshu Soni will portray Ram, Samiksha Bhatnagar will play Sita, and Ketan Karande will take on the role of Hanuman.

Regarding the budget, Kumar explained, “Everyone contributes voluntarily here. Some handle the tents, others manage the chairs and tables. However, the approximate budget is expected to be between Rs 4 crore and Rs 5 crore”.

He also noted that the celebrations have already begun, with schoolchildren from Delhi-NCR performing Ramlila on Wednesday.
