Delhi weather: Air quality in city very poor

Delhi weather: The national capital woke up to a foggy morning on Sunday with the minimum temperature recorded at 9.1 degrees Celsius, 1.6 degrees above the season’s average.

Delhi’s Air Quality Index (AQI) settled in the ‘very poor’ category, standing at 346 as of 9 am. On Saturday, the 24-hour average AQI was recorded at 255, falling in the ‘poor’ category at 4 pm.

Humidity levels were recorded at 100 per cent at 8:30 am.

The India Meteorological Department has predicted a partly cloudy sky during the day, with the maximum temperature expected to reach around 22 degrees Celsius.

Meanwhile, on Sunday morning, a dense layer of fog enveloped parts of outer Delhi, leading to a significant drop in visibility and causing delays to 47 trains.

The minimum temperature in the city was recorded at 10.2 degrees Celsius, which is 2.6 degrees above the seasonal average, as per the India Meteorological Department (IMD).

The IMD has predicted a partly cloudy sky during the day, with the maximum temperature expected to hover around 18 degrees Celsius.

The Indian Railways reported that 47 trains were running late as of 6 am due to the foggy conditions in the capital.

Delhi’s Air Quality Index (AQI) was measured at 247, falling in the ‘poor’ category.

An AQI between 0-50 is classified as good, 51-100 as satisfactory, 101-200 as moderate, 201-300 as poor, 301-400 as very poor, and 401-500 as severe.
