Rekha Gupta
Delhi’s Chief Minister-designate, Rekha Gupta, assured on Thursday that the BJP government would deliver on its election promise of providing Rs 2,500 per month in financial aid to women.
Gupta stated that the first installment of this assistance would be deposited into beneficiaries’ accounts by March 8. The BJP’s pre-election manifesto had pledged this support, surpassing the Aam Aadmi Party’s proposed Rs 2,100 monthly aid if it won.
Elected as the BJP legislature party leader on Wednesday, Gupta emphasised that fulfilling promises remains her top priority. “Realising Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision is the duty of all 48 BJP MLAs in Delhi. We will certainly fulfill all commitments, including financial aid for women. The money will be credited to their accounts by March 8,” she affirmed. Notably, March 8 marks International Women’s Day.
The BJP secured a decisive victory in the Delhi Assembly elections, winning 48 out of 70 seats and bringing an end to the AAP’s ten-year rule.
