A recent report from the Municipal Corporation of Delhi has revealed that the number of fresh dengue cases in Delhi reached 56 in the past week, resulting in a total of 243 cases until July 28. This brings the total cases of the vector-borne disease in the national capital to over 240. In comparison, until July 22, there were 187 reported cases.

The report also mentioned that during the period from January 1 to July 28, there were 72 recorded cases of malaria in Delhi.

For the month of July, there have been 121 reported cases of dengue, 40 cases in June, and 23 in May.

In contrast, during the same period (January 1 to July 28) in previous years, Delhi reported 169 dengue cases in 2022, 52 in 2021, 31 in 2020, 40 in 2019, and 56 in 2018.

Delhi Mayor Shelly Oberoi recently expressed concerns about the potential increase in dengue and malaria cases this year due to flooding in various areas. In response, directives have been issued to relevant departments to take preventive measures, such as checking mosquito breeding sites and clearing the silt and sludge left by the floodwater of the Yamuna river.
