Gallerie Nvya is thrilled to announce the solo exhibition of Gurmeet Marwah, titled “Reign of Hearts, Altar of Mirages.” Through his artwork, Marwah explores human psychology, showcasing fragments of fragility, uncertainty, and stability.
The exhibition features Marwah’s satirical and whimsical works that pose questions and create a sense of reliable static, urging the viewer to navigate through their thoughts.
Marwah draws inspiration from his immediate surroundings, inhaling experiences and exhaling them through his art. His work is a cryptic record of perceived instances that are expressed as snippets of fictional narratives. Marwah’s controlled palette of charcoal on linen has a monochromatic temperament interrupted by occasional bright crimson reds and azure blues. The titles of his works suggest a search for heartsease and the precarity of sentimentalities.
The artist creates compositions with a playful innocence alongside a complementing contradictory seriousness that is revealed when viewed up-close. His imp formations, owls, and monkeys stem from everyday locutions, carefully revealing bits of Marwah’s motivations. The exhibition critiques societal constructs and materialistic aspirations while touching on the impermanence of it all.
The exhibition “Reign of Hearts, Altar of Mirages” runs from March 15 to April 15, 2023, at Gallerie Nvya, situated in 101-103 Square One Mall, C-2, Saket District Centre, New Delhi.
The gallery is open from Monday to Saturday, 11 am to 6 pm. Shristi Sainani provided curatorial advice for the exhibition. We invite you to experience the fascinating artwork of Gurmeet Marwah.
