Students of Jamia Millia Islamia have once more collectively decided to boycott online classes from 11th April onwards until following demands are met: full re-opening of the campus for all UG and PG courses.

As many as 23 departments which includes- Economics, History, Sociology, Psychology, Geography, Commerce, Biotech, Physics, B. Sc
Aeronautics, Unani pharmacy, Mass Media, BBA, English, French, Urdu, Persian, Spanish, Turkish, Arabic, Islamic studies, bachelors of travel and tourism management, B.A. Program have achieved consensus in their respective classes to join the call for boycott with full strength and will not be starting with the online classes of their course of second semester which is due
to start from Monday, April 11th.

Responses via google forms and other means of online voting reflect the majority in favour of offline classes. “But at this point, this is not a case of majority or minority in favour or against the opening but it is about normalcy that is sought after ease in the covid-19 pandemic.”

We are not able to comprehend how only closure of colleges and opening of every other entertainment and daily activities will curb the spread of covid-19″, the press release mentioned.

It further stated that, “Several government guidelines have directed the re-opening and full functioning of daily activities and terminating of covid protocols amidst the pandemic. Therefore, we strongly seek answers from authorities.

We seek an update on the status of
notices that were promised to come in 3-4 days time after the protest on 30th March 2022.”
