Satyendra Jain
Former Delhi minister and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader, Satyendar Jain, who has been incarcerated in Tihar Jail since May last year, was hospitalised and put on oxygen support on Thursday. The party reported that he collapsed at the prison due to dizziness.
Jain was initially admitted to the Deen Dayal Upadhyay Hospital but was later transferred to the Lok Nayak Jai Prakash (LNJP) Hospital due to breathing difficulties. His imprisonment stems from his arrest by the Enforcement Directorate in connection with a money laundering case in May last year.
The AAP stated that Jain had collapsed in the bathroom of Tihar Jail and had also suffered a serious spinal injury in a previous bathroom incident.
Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal expressed his well wishes, hoping for Jain’s speedy recovery and praying for strength for him to overcome these challenging circumstances.
According to a senior jail official, Jain slipped in the bathroom of the hospital’s MI room at around 6 am on Thursday. He was under observation for general weakness, and after being examined by doctors, he was referred to the DDU Hospital due to complaints of back, leg, and shoulder pain.
Earlier in the week, Jain was taken to Safdarjung Hospital as he was feeling unwell. (With inputs from PTI)
