Ahead of the upcoming G20 Summit scheduled for September 9-10 at the newly constructed international convention and exhibition center, Bharat Mandapam, in Pragati Maidan, Delhi, the Delhi government has taken several measures.

In light of the event’s significance, the government has ordered the closure of all schools in Delhi from September 7 to September 10. Simultaneously, the Education department has instructed its employees to stay in the city during these four days to be available for any potential manpower needs arising from the summit.

Delhi-NCR will observe a public holiday from September 8 to September 10 due to the G20 Summit. Additionally, September 7 is already designated as a gazetted holiday for Janmashtami.

Given the scale of the event and the potential demand for additional personnel, the Education Department has decided that all of its staff members should remain in the city during this period.

The circular issued by the government emphasises that all employees must keep their phones available and that no outstation leave will be permitted during the specified period. This restriction is put in place because their services may be required at any time.

The directive concludes by urging all officers and officials of the Education Department to comply with these instructions and ensure their presence within the National Capital Territory of Delhi during the G20 Summit.

The G20 Summit is being hosted by India in its capacity as the current president of the G20 group. The event is expected to be attended by more than 30 heads of state, high-ranking officials from the European Union, invited guest countries, and 14 heads of international organisations.
