Officials from the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) have announced the inclusion of 18 additional roads to the roster of prominent streets earmarked for intensive cleaning and maintenance in preparation for the forthcoming G20 Summit.

Initiated on August 16, the civic body launched a special campaign aimed at enhancing the cleanliness and overall condition of 26 well-known roads across the city, in anticipation of the upcoming G20 Summit scheduled for the following month. With the incorporation of these new roads, the MCD’s scope of responsibility will encompass the maintenance of a total of 44 roads.

Scheduled for September 9 to 10, the summit is slated to occur at the newly inaugurated, state-of-the-art convention complex located at Pragati Maidan.

A senior official stated that the MCD has escalated its endeavors to uplift the aesthetic and sensory appeal of the urban landscape.

In order to achieve these objectives, designated officers and their respective teams will deploy specialized mechanical road-sweeping machinery and versatile multi-purpose vehicles to carry out tasks such as road maintenance, cleanliness, and dust control, said the official.

Initially, the MCD had pinpointed 26 roads for this undertaking, including prominent routes such as Mathura Road, Bhairon Marg, Sachivalaya Road, Purana Quila Road, Lodhi Road, Maulana Mohammad Ali Jauhar Marg, Suraj Kund Road, and Mahatma Gandhi Road.

Recent information conveyed by the civic body on Wednesday disclosed the addition of 18 new roads to the aforementioned list.

This expanded list encompasses roads like Sector 22 Road in Dwarka, Dwarka Road, Vasant Kunj Road, the stretch of Mehrauli-Gurugram Road leading up to the Aya Nagar border, Shankar Road, Nelson Mandela Marg, Vasant Kunj Mall Road, Bisham Pitamah Marg, Abdul Ghaffar Khan Marg, Velodrome Road, Satyagraha Road, and Mahatma Gandhi Marg spanning from Arihant Marg to NH-48.
