Delhi: In a major push towards global collaboration in cancer care, the Fortis Cancer Institute will host the Fortis Cancer Summit 2026 on May 2 and 3 at Hotel Andaz, bringing together leading oncologists, researchers and healthcare professionals from across the world.
The two-day international conference is expected to see participation from over 50 premier cancer centres across India, along with more than 500 national faculty members and over 100 international experts representing 25 countries. With more than 1,200 delegates and 150 oncology students attending, the summit aims to position the national capital as a hub for global oncology dialogue and collaboration.
Organisers said the summit comes at a time when cancer treatment protocols vary significantly across regions, underscoring the need for greater alignment and knowledge exchange. The conference will revolve around the theme, ‘Beyond Evidence-Based Oncology’, focusing on translating evolving scientific evidence into practical, real-world clinical applications.
Spread across multiple sessions, the summit will feature over 25 thematic discussions, including organ-specific oncology, multidisciplinary panels and hands-on workshops. These sessions are designed to address emerging trends and challenges in cancer care, while promoting integrated and patient-centric treatment approaches.
The event will host experts from diverse oncology disciplines such as radiation oncology, medical oncology, surgical oncology, haematology, paediatric oncology, gynaecologic oncology and genomics. Specialists in advanced technologies, including proton therapy and MR-guided radiotherapy, will also be part of the discussions.
Prominent Indian experts participating in the summit include G. K. Rath, Ramesh Sarin and Sudeep Gupta, among others. The global faculty features international specialists such as Mary McCormack and Peter Fasching.
Speaking ahead of the summit, Iliya Karniliyus Salu, Chief Medical Director at Trust Charitos Hospital, Nigeria, said global collaboration is essential as cancer care challenges become increasingly complex and universal. He emphasised that the future lies in integrating research evidence with personalised, multidisciplinary treatment approaches.
Dr Nitesh Rohatgi, Principal Director, Medical Oncology at Fortis Memorial Research Institute, Gurugram, said the summit aims to create a platform for clinicians, researchers and young professionals to exchange ideas and explore new approaches in cancer management.
Dr Ankur Bahl highlighted the importance of bridging the gap between emerging evidence and clinical application, noting that collaborative efforts are key to improving survival rates and quality of life for patients.
Dr Ritu Garg, Chief Growth and Innovation Officer at Fortis Healthcare, said the summit reflects the organisation’s commitment to advancing cancer care through innovation, technology and patient-centric approaches. She added that insights from the conference are expected to influence clinical practices and strengthen global oncology networks.
The summit marks the second edition of the initiative and is expected to play a key role in shaping future-ready, globally aligned cancer care systems.
