Global outage: Several flights impacted at Delhi airport

Several flights were impacted due to the global outage at the Delhi Airport, according to a senior official on Friday.

Taking the matter to X (formerly Twitter), Delhi Airport wrote, “Due to the global IT issue, some of the services at the Delhi Airport were temporarily impacted. We are closely working with all our stakeholders to minimise the inconvenience to our flyers.”

“Passengers are requested to be in touch with the airline concerned or the help desk on ground for updated flight information. We regret the inconvenience caused to our passengers”, Delhi Airport requested passengers.

However, On the other hand, the Chennai Airport was also affected with a passenger taking to the Elon Musk-owned social media site to post, “The Microsoft / CrowdStrike outage has taken down most airports in India. I got my first hand-written boarding pass today.”

Indigo Airlines also tweeted, “As systems are impacted globally due to ongoing issues with Microsoft Azure, we kindly request you to refrain from making multiple booking attempts during this time. We are working closely with Microsoft to resolve the issue and appreciate your patience”.

Meanwhile, Microsoft users across the world, including in India, have reported massive outages in services which has resulted in multiple airports facing massive disruptions in services on Friday.

According to the outage tracking website, Downdetector, users also reported problems across multiple Microsoft products including Teams and Azure.

Microsoft users globally, several in India, have reported massive outages in services, with outage tracking website Downdetector showing users flagging disruptions across various services.

Globally, the Microsoft cloud outage led to US airlines cancelling flights, but the tech giant later reportedly said its cloud services outage in the Central US region has been resolved.

A new Crowdstrike (cybersecurity software firm) update is being cited as the cause of the outage, which has impacted Windows-based desktop and laptops.

Microsoft, crowdstrike and Windows are trending on X (formerly Twitter).

On outage tracking website Downdetector, users reported problems across Microsoft line-up including Azure, and Teams.

Microsoft said it is investigating the issue “impacting users ability to access various Microsoft 365 apps and services”.

“Our services are still seeing continuous improvements while we continue to take mitigation actions,” according to Microsoft 365 Status post on X.

The glitch is causing users to see the Blue Screen of Death error messages, and there are widespread reports of disruptions in international airlines, banks and media outlets.

“Blue screen of death reported at multiple companies – Crowd Strike attack. Are you also facing ??,” wrote a user on X.
