Arvind Kejriwal
Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has reportedly experienced a noticeable decline in weight since his arrest on March 21, according to senior AAP leader Atishi. Atishi has accused the BJP of jeopardising Kejriwal’s health by detaining him in jail.
However, the administration of Tihar jail, where Kejriwal is held until April 15, has refuted these claims. A senior Tihar jail official stated that Kejriwal’s vitals remain within normal range.
Kejriwal was apprehended by the Enforcement Directorate in connection with a money laundering case linked to excise policy. He is currently in judicial custody until April 15.
“Atishi raised concerns about Arvind Kejriwal’s health, noting that he is a severe diabetic. Despite health challenges, he has tirelessly served the country around the clock. Since his arrest, Kejriwal’s weight has reportedly decreased by 4.5 kg. This is deeply concerning. By detaining him, the BJP is allegedly endangering his health,” she alleged in a post on X in Hindi.
Atishi further emphasised the gravity of the situation, stating, “If something were to happen to Arvind Kejriwal, it would not only deeply impact the entire nation, but even divine forgiveness would be hard to come by for those responsible.”
Despite his incarceration, the Delhi chief minister has been granted permission to consume home-cooked meals in Tihar jail. On Tuesday morning, Kejriwal experienced low blood sugar levels and was closely monitored by Tihar jail medical staff as his condition fluctuated. ( With inputs from PTI)
