Delhi Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena on Tuesday kicked off the Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra in the national capital, commencing from the Khajoori Khas area. Prime Minister Narendra Modi had previously launched the nationwide initiative in Khunti, Jharkhand, with the aim of reaching citizens eligible for various central schemes who have yet to benefit from them.

Scheduled to conclude on January 25 next year, this campaign is designed to engage beneficiaries of the Centre’s flagship programs in both rural and urban settings. Addressing the gathered audience, Saxena emphasized that the yatra represents a significant stride toward realizing the vision of a “developed India” while fostering inclusive development.

He highlighted the multitude of welfare schemes, including Swachhata, Rojgaar Sagam Yojana, Ayushmaan Bharat, PM Awas Yojana, and PM Gareeb Kalyan Yojana, being implemented under the prime minister’s leadership. The yatra’s purpose, Saxena explained, is to extend the reach of these initiatives to every corner of the country, particularly connecting individuals from marginalized sections with these schemes.

The yatra is set to traverse all ‘gram panchayats, nagar panchayats, and urban bodies.’ Saxena urged agencies and senior officials from both the central and Delhi governments to dedicate themselves to public welfare works and establish direct communication with the public.

During the event, Saxena administered the Viksit Bharat Sankalp pledge to all dignitaries and attendees. He also flagged off Information, Education, and Communication (IEC) vans to disseminate information about the schemes. Various kiosks, representing entities such as DDA, banks, the postal department, UIDAI, the Union Petroleum and Natural Gas Ministry, and more, were set up to highlight different government schemes.

Notable figures, including Members of Parliament from Delhi such as Harsh Vardhan, Manoj Tiwari, Ramesh Bidhuri, and Parvesh Sahib Singh, were present at the event, signifying the collaborative effort to enhance awareness and participation in central welfare programs.
