Delhi Lieutenant Governor V K Saxena issued a gazette notification on Friday, announcing the schedule for assembly elections in the national capital, following the Election Commission of India’s recommendation.
The official notification, dated January 10, outlines the election timeline as per the Representation of the People Act, 1951.
“Acting on the recommendation of the Election Commission of India, the Lieutenant Governor of the National Capital Territory (NCT) of Delhi hereby calls upon all Assembly Constituencies in the NCT of Delhi to elect members to the Legislative Assembly of the NCT of Delhi,” the notification stated.
The current Legislative Assembly of Delhi, unless dissolved earlier, will continue until February 23 and will automatically stand dissolved upon the expiration of its term, it added.
As per the notification, the deadline for filing nominations is January 17, with scrutiny scheduled for January 18. Candidates can withdraw their nominations until January 20.

Polling will take place on February 5 between 7 AM and 6 PM, and the entire election process is set to conclude by February 10. The notification further mentions that the present assembly will be dissolved on February 23, allowing the formation of a new government.
On January 7, the Election Commission of India (ECI) had announced that the Ninth Delhi Assembly election would be conducted in a single phase on February 5 across all 70 constituencies, with the counting of votes scheduled for February 8.
