Delhi is expected to witness light rains on Wednesday, although city residents may experience some inconvenience due to high humidity, according to the weather department.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasts intermittent rains over the next five to six days, with peak intensity expected over the upcoming weekend.

Delhi’s primary weather station, the Safdarjung Observatory, recorded a minimum temperature of 27.9 degrees Celsius, slightly above the normal range. The maximum temperature is anticipated to reach around 37 degrees Celsius.

July brought abundant rainfall to Delhi, leading to its best air quality for the month in the past five years. Data from the IMD and the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) indicated a decline in the average maximum temperature, making it the lowest since 2016.

During July, the city experienced 384.6 mm of rainfall, the second-highest in the last 15 years, compared to the normal average of 195.8 mm. This resulted in above-normal rainfall in the previous four months as well. March witnessed 53.2 mm against a normal of 17.4 mm, April had 20.1 mm against an average of 16.3 mm, May received 111 mm against a normal of 30.7 mm, and June saw 101.7 mm against a normal of 74.1 mm.

Overall, the average maximum temperature in July was 34.7 degrees Celsius, the lowest recorded since 2016, when it was 34.5 degrees Celsius. (With inputs from PTI)
