On Thursday, a 50-year-old man attempted suicide by jumping in front of a train at the Moolchand metro station on the violet line. The man, identified as Mahendar, jumped on the rail tracks when the train reached platform 1 of the station.
The man was immediately taken to the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) trauma center. According to the officials, he was unfit to give any statement.
The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) had tweeted to alert the commuters who travel on the violet line which operates from Kashmere Gate in Delhi to Raja Nahar Singh station in Haryana. “Delay in services from Kashmere Gate to Badarpur Border due to a passenger on track at Moolchand. Normal service on all other lines”, tweeted DMRC.
Last month too, a man had died by suicide after he jumped on the track the Udyog Bhavan metro station. Similar incidents were reported at Tilak Nagar metro station, Akshardham metro station and RK Ashram metro station earlier this year.
