More than 100 Delhi school teachers honoured by Manish Sisodia

The programme was held at the Thyagraj stadium complex, which was all decked up with flowers and colourful ribbons to celebrate the occasion.

Sisodia tweeted, “Today, on the occasion of Teachers’ Day, 118 teachers have been honoured with State Teachers’ Award for their outstanding contribution in the field of education.

A teacher is a person who through his knowledge helps in the holistic development of children and shows the right path for the progress of the society and nation-building.”

One of the awardees, Neeru Vijh, who has been a lecturer for thirty-three years at the government girls senior secondary school in Vasundhara Enclave, said that the current interventions and initiatives taken by the Education department are ‘praiseworthy.’

According to Vijh, such a rapid transition in the education sector was never seen in the national capital. Apart from just the textbooks, attention is also given to the well being and mental health of the children at schools.

Mini Khanna, principal of Green fields School in Safdarjung Enclave, appreciates the policies, especially the ‘Deshbhakti curriculum’ and the ‘Entrepreneurship Mindset Curriculum.’

“The policies of Delhi government have been paving way for further development of the students in Delhi schools. Two policies – the Deshbhakti curriculum and the Entrepreneurship Mindset Curriculum – have been really appreciated by both, the teachers and the students. We are thankful to the government for all their resources”, she said.

Speaking about the changes in the education policies in the last decade in Delhi, DAV Public school lecturer, Nisha Sharma said teaching in schools has been relatively easier and application-oriented these days. She is thankful to the Delhi Government for acknowledging the contribution of teachers and organizing this event.

Echoing similar sentiments, another government school teacher, Nidhi Tomar said while education was limited to textbooks earlier, its scope has broadened now due to practical classes and advanced technology.

DAV Public school lecturer, Alka Taneja, points out that although the policies are good, the rapid transition from in-person classes to online sessions to hybrid classes now have been difficult for the students.
A cultural event was also conducted in which schoolgoing children participated.
