Dhoomimal Art Gallery is all set to present an exhibition titled “Of Divergent Practices: The Trajectory of Printmaking”. The exhibition, curated by Ina Puri and designed by Reha Sodhi, will showcase a wide range of prints from non-representational prints to the simplicity inspired by Japanese aesthetics with regard to space and abstraction.
The exhibition aims to provide an in-depth perspective on the trajectory of this significant genre that deserves to be more firmly a part of the mainstream. The show is also expected to become part of an ongoing dialogue that draws in more participation from the younger practitioners of the medium.
According to the curator, Ina Puri, each artist has selected recent works that showcase a range of techniques and themes, from fragility to violence and surrealism. The show aims to provide an in-depth perspective on the trajectory of printmaking, which is a significant genre that deserves to be more firmly a part of the mainstream.
Uday Jain, Director of Dhoomimal Gallery, believes that printmaking is a specialized skill that is an original art form.
He further adds, “Surprisingly, to see younger generation artists still exploring and innovatively creating good intricate, larger than human size works is truly a grandeur to witness.”
