Delhi Police has filed an FIR after a pornographic video was displayed on a digital advertisement board in the Connaught Place area, officials said.
The New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC), which oversees the area, released a statement suggesting that the screen may have been “hacked” using advanced technology.
The incident came to light when passersby noticed the video playing on one of the LED screens meant for advertisements in Connaught Place’s H Block on Thursday night, according to officials.
The brief video clip was subsequently removed from the board with assistance from NDMC officials, a police officer stated.
The NDMC explained that it operates two types of panels within its jurisdiction—one for advertisements and the other an interactive touchscreen.

“Both panels are of international standard and controlled by a server that is fully secured with a firewall and antivirus. We also provide free public hotspots in the NDMC areas,” the statement said.
The civic body described the incident as “one of its kind” and is investigating how the firewall was breached.
The NDMC noted that it has installed advertisement boards at 50 locations under its jurisdiction.
It clarified that only one board at a single location was compromised, while all other locations remained unaffected. The breach of the specific LED board might have been carried out “using some advanced technique,” which the civic body is currently investigating.
A case under relevant sections of the BNS has been registered, and investigations are underway to identify those responsible for the incident, the police officer added.
