Delhi is expected to experience rain and thunderstorms on Tuesday, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD). The weather forecast brings a welcome change for residents after a spell of warm and humid conditions.

As per the IMD, the minimum temperature in the city was recorded at 26.7 degrees Celsius, which is just 0.2 degrees below the seasonal average. Early morning humidity levels were high, with relative humidity measured at 97 percent at 8:30 am, indicating a heavy moisture presence in the air.

The maximum temperature for the day is likely to settle around 35 degrees Celsius, which, though warm, may be tempered by the expected rainfall and overcast skies. Rain and thunderstorms could offer some relief from the muggy conditions that have persisted over the past few days.

In addition to the weather updates, the city’s air quality remained within the “satisfactory” range. According to the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB), the Air Quality Index (AQI) stood at 90 as of 9 am. The AQI scale categorizes air quality based on pollutant levels: 0-50 is considered ‘good’, 51-100 ‘satisfactory’, 101-200 ‘moderate’, 201-300 ‘poor’, 301-400 ‘very poor’, and 401-500 ‘severe’.

An AQI of 90 suggests that the air quality is relatively better than on days when pollution levels rise significantly, especially during peak traffic hours or under unfavorable weather conditions. Authorities are urging citizens to stay updated with weather advisories, especially those commuting during the day, as sudden showers and thunderstorms could lead to localized waterlogging and traffic disruptions. Overall, the forecast indicates a day of mixed conditions—humid weather moderated by potential rainfall and satisfactory air quality.
