Intermittent rain across Delhi has positively impacted the city’s air quality and kept temperatures under control, according to an official from the India Meteorological Department (IMD).
Due to widespread rains, the air quality has improved to the ‘good’ category on some days.
On Saturday, Delhi achieved its best Air Quality Index (AQI) of 2023, with an average AQI of 59. This is an improvement from the previous best AQI of 64 recorded on July 9th. The Central Pollution Control Board (CAQM) tweeted about this achievement, urging everyone to continue working together for cleaner skies and a healthier environment.
The AQI scale categorizes levels from ‘good’ (0-50) to ‘severe’ (401-500). Delhi’s current AQI falls within the ‘good’ range.
On Saturday, the city experienced a maximum temperature of 31.6 degrees Celsius, three notches below the season’s average, and a minimum temperature of 25 degrees Celsius, two notches below the season’s average, according to IMD.
Over a 24-hour period, Delhi received 15 mm of rainfall until Saturday morning.
The relative humidity ranged between 96 percent and 81 percent.
The weather forecast for Sunday predicts a generally cloudy sky with light rain or drizzle in the city.
