The Delhi Police has enforced prohibitory measures under CrPC Section 144 in proximity to locations including Rajghat, ITO, and Red Fort, as disclosed by officials on Thursday.
The application of Section 144 of CrPC, a provision in the Code of Criminal Procedure, has been activated in the vicinity of Rajghat, ITO, and Red Fort in light of the upcoming Independence Day celebrations.
The police, sharing this information on the platform X (formerly known as Twitter), emphasised that no form of gathering will be allowed in these specific areas.
The occasion of Independence Day, scheduled for August 15, involves the prime minister’s address to the nation from the Red Fort.
According to police, Red Fort was also closed to the public from July 26 in view of Independence Day
In the meantime, the Delhi Police has disallowed the operation of sub-conventional airborne devices such as paragliders, hang-gliders, and hot air balloons within the capital city from July 22 to August 16 due to security concerns. This directive was issued by Delhi Police Commissioner Sanjay Arora in anticipation of the Independence Day festivities on August 15.
