The Sultanpuri Police Station in outer Delhi has been declared the top police station in the city for 2023, officials announced on Tuesday.

Last year’s trophy for the best police station went to the Civil Lines Police Station in north Delhi, according to officials.

Southeast Delhi’s Okhla Industrial Area claimed the second spot for 2023, while the third spot went to north Delhi’s Roop Nagar, as confirmed by a police officer.

During the 77th Raising Day Parade ceremony on February 16, the Station House Officers (SHOs) of all three police stations will receive the prestigious award, the officer stated.

The raising day parade ceremony is slated to be held at the Parade Ground of New Police Lines at Kingsway Camp, he added.

With over 180 police stations dispersed across 15 police districts, Delhi’s law enforcement apparatus is vast and complex.

Delhi Police conducts an annual evaluation to recognize the best police station, weighing various criteria such as crime control metrics, case disposal rates, record maintenance, station upkeep, cleanliness, and public perception, the officer explained.

A selection committee, chaired by a special commissioner of police and comprising two joint commissioners, was tasked with choosing Sultanpuri as the standout police station in Delhi for 2023, said another officer.

The committee solicited nominations from the deputy commissioners of police (DCPs) in all 15 police districts to ensure comprehensive consideration, he noted, emphasizing that the selection process adhered to guidelines established by the Bureau of Police Research and Development (BPRND).
