
Delhi: A tempo driver was killed after his speeding vehicle rammed into a divider in the Baba Haridas Nagar area here, police said on Monday.
The deceased has been identified as Pintu, a resident of Raghuvir Nagar, they said.
According to police, the incident took place on the night of March 18 when a PCR call was received around 8 pm reporting an accident on Dhichaon Road.
A police team rushed to the spot and found a damaged Tata Ace tempo stationed on the road.
Initial inquiry revealed that the vehicle had gone out of control and collided with a road divider, leaving the driver critically injured. With the help of locals, the police shifted the vehicle to the roadside to ease traffic congestion and rushed the injured driver to a nearby hospital.
However, by the time the police reached Rao Tula Ram Memorial Hospital, the driver had succumbed to his injuries, officials said.
The body was later identified as that of Pintu, who lived in the Raghuvir Nagar area.
Police have seized the vehicle and registered a case in connection with the incident. Further investigation is underway to ascertain the exact cause of the accident, they added.
