Three people were injured after a drunken driver allegedly rammed his SUV into another car in west Delhi’s Moti Nagar area in the early hours of Thursday, police said.
The incident took place on Shivaji Road around 3.15 am when a black SUV (Scorpio) bearing a Haryana number plate, driven negligently, broke through the central verge grill and collided with another car bearing a Delhi registration number, Deputy Commissioner of Police (West) Darade Sharad Bhaskar said in an official statement.
Three occupants of the car — identified as Harbir Singh, Gurdeep Singh and Sukhvinder Singh — sustained injuries in the accident, the officer said.
A case under Sections 281 (rash driving or riding on a public way) and 125(A) (endangering life or public safety of others) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita has been registered at Moti Nagar police station, they said.
During an investigation, the police identified the driver of the SUV, Kanishk Yadav, 22, a resident of Khyala village and his three associates, Aryan Malik, Priyansh Lamba and Jagdish and medically examined them, police said.
“All four were found under the influence of alcohol,” the officer said.
Further investigation into the matter is underway, police added.
