For the fourth day in a row, closure of major road sections in southern parts of Delhi for repair and construction work caused massive traffic congestion, leaving commuters struggling to reach their destinations on time.
The Chirag Delhi flyover has been shut down for 50 days from Sunday, while a portion of the Delhi-Jaipur Highway (NH-48) between Rangpuri and Rajokari has been closed for 90 days from Tuesday.
The Delhi Police informed commuters via Twitter about slow traffic from Nehru Place towards IIT Flyover due to diversions along the Chirag Delhi Flyover.
Noida resident Sunil Kumar Saxena commented that heavy traffic is a regular occurrence on the road leading to Chirag Delhi, with the situation worsening during peak hours.
Saxena suggested that avoiding this route would be a preferable option for commuters.
According to the police, a broken down bus on Rani Jhansi Road has caused disruptions to traffic flow in the carriageway from Eidgah to Ram Kumar Marg T point. Commuters are advised to avoid this stretch until further notice.
Commuters took to Twitter to share updates on the situation.
On Tuesday, PWD Minister Atishi held a meeting with senior PWD officials and directed them to complete the maintenance work of the Chirag Delhi flyover within a month instead of the scheduled 50 days to resolve the issue on a priority basis.(with inputs from PTI)
