A dump truck collided with a Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) bus in the Delhi Cantonment area on Wednesday morning, leaving four persons injured, police said.

No passengers travelling in the bus were injured.

The accident took place near Thiraiya traffic light after crossing the Delhi Cantt flyover towards Dhaula Kuan. Three persons travelling in the truck were injured and the bus driver suffered a fracture in his leg, they said.

A PCR call regarding the incident was received at Delhi Cantt police station around 8:23 am, following which police teams reached the spot and the injured persons were shifted to Deen Dayal Upadhyay Hospital, a senior police officer said.

Police said the dump truck was being driven by 26-year-old Pritam, who hailed from Uttar Pradesh. He was travelling with Sanoj (28), and Roshan (18), both from Bihar.

The trio were workers engaged with the Delhi Cantonment Board and were carrying out their routine duty when the accident occurred, the officer said.

Pritam and Sanoj sustained minor injuries in the collision, while Roshan was also examined following the accident, he said.

The DTC bus was being driven by 45-year-old Kashmiri Singh, a resident of Sonipat in Haryana. He sustained a fracture in his leg and was taken to the hospital for treatment.

All passengers travelling in the DTC bus were found safe and no injury or other harm to any passenger has been reported, the officer further said.

Earlier, police had said both the drivers were taken to hospital following the collision and that further inquiry would be conducted after their medico-legal case (MLC) reports were received.

Police said the exact circumstances leading to the collision are being ascertained. Investigators are expected to examine the MLC reports, statements of those involved and other available evidence to determine how the accident occurred and fix responsibility.
