A tragic incident occurred in New Delhi’s Tughlaq Lane, where a two-year-old girl was allegedly mauled to death by a pack of stray dogs. According to police reports, the incident unfolded around 6 pm on Saturday evening when the child was sitting outside her home.

In a horrifying turn of events, four to five stray dogs attacked her, dragging her several meters and inflicting fatal injuries.

Authorities conducted an autopsy and commenced an investigation. A senior New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) official expressed deep sorrow over the event and reported that a team of veterinarians inspected the scene and confirmed that the dogs in the area were vaccinated and sterilized.

The police are currently conducting an inquiry to provide further clarity on the incident.

The victim’s family members have alleged that certain individuals regularly feed stray dogs in the area, leading to a buildup of dog populations. They demanded strict action against these feeders.

The uncle of the deceased child, Ravi, recounted the horrifying event, emphasizing that this was not the first stray dog attack in the area. He claimed that previous complaints to the authorities had been ignored. Ravi also stated that those who tried to stop individuals feeding the dogs were threatened with police complaints.

Local residents have complained about these incidents to the police, who they claim took no action. A senior police officer confirmed that a team and forensic experts were dispatched to the scene upon receiving information about the attack. The girl was immediately taken to a hospital but succumbed to her injuries.

This tragic event adds to a string of dog attacks in Delhi since the start of the year. In one incident, a seven-year-old girl was injured after an alleged attack by a neighbor’s American Bully in Rohini. Another case involved a two-year-old girl being attacked by a pet dog in Vishwash Nagar. In Mahendra Park, a seven-year-old boy was injured by a Pitbull, while a girl of the same age faced a similar attack by an American Bully in Shahbad Dairy. In Burari’s Uttarakhand Colony, a Pitbull reportedly snatched an 18-month-old child from her grandfather’s lap, resulting in severe injuries.

The series of dog attacks underscores the urgent need for effective measures to prevent such incidents and protect public safety.
