Warm morning in Delhi as AQI stays ‘poor’ for second day

Delhi recorded a warm morning on Monday, with the minimum temperature settling at 29.1 degrees Celsius, 1.8 notches above the season’s normal, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD).

The city’s primary weather station at Safdarjung had recorded a minimum temperature of 28.3 degrees Celsius a day earlier.

Among other monitoring stations, Ayanagar recorded a minimum temperature of 28.5 degrees Celsius, 1.5 notches above normal, while Lodhi Road logged 28.2 degrees Celsius, 2.2 notches above normal.

Palam was relatively cooler at 26.8 degrees Celsius, marginally below normal by 0.4 degrees, while the Ridge station recorded the lowest minimum temperature in the city at 24.3 degrees Celsius, 2.2 notches below normal.

According to the IMD, no rainfall was recorded at any of the five major weather stations, Safdarjung, Palam, Lodhi Road, Ridge and Ayanagar, during the 24-hour period ending at 8.30 am on Monday.

On Sunday, the maximum temperature at Safdarjung settled at 36.8 degrees Celsius, 1.3 notches above normal.

Meanwhile, Delhi’s air quality was recorded in the ‘poor’ category for the second day in a row, with an average air quality index (AQI) being clocked at 294, according to data from the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB).

According to the CPCB, an AQI between 0 and 50 is considered ‘good’, 51 to 100 ‘satisfactory’, 101 to 200 ‘moderate’, 201 to 300 ‘poor’, 301 to 400 ‘very poor’, and 401 to 500 ‘severe’.
