A woman was fatally stabbed in the Trilokpuri area of east Delhi on Wednesday, according to the police.
The suspect has been detained and is being questioned to determine the motive for the murder, they added.
The victim has been identified as 40-year-old Rekha, Delhi police said.
“On Wednesday, the police received information from LBS Hospital that a woman had been brought in by her husband and was declared dead on arrival,” said a senior police official.
After receiving this report, officers hurried to the hospital and found that the woman had sustained multiple stab wounds, he said.
“Police then proceeded to the crime scene, which was examined by the forensic team. During the inquiry, family members of the victim revealed that their neighbour, 48-year-old Suresh Kumar, was responsible for stabbing Rekha,” the officer explained.
CCTV footage from a nearby camera confirmed that Kumar had entered and left the house.
The victim was a homemaker, and the suspect worked as a cab driver, police said.
