Sharda Memorial Trust (SNEHIL) is a family trust, an NGO which helps anyone in need of support (financial, social, education) with the objective of contributing to the betterment of health of all without any distinction of gender, caste or creed. It organizes health checkup camps, health talks, outreach programmes and distribution of clothes, blankets, sweaters and food packets to the needy.
During Covid lockdowns, when the medical fraternity was on the frontline of combating the pandemic, the trust actively organized distribution of hygienic food packets through local police channels. Being a family trust, the ability to collect donations was limited, but contributions poured in from known and unknown well-wishers during this period.
Thus was born the idea of organizing fund generation activities. The invitees were eminent people not only from the medical fraternity but social workers, administrators, engineers, entrepreneurs, educationists, entertainers, advocates, journalist-editors and artists.
The chief guest on the occasion was Dr Mahesh Sharma, Member of Parliament, and former Union Minister of State (Independent charge). Former Principal Secretary (PMO) Nripendra Misra and his wife Kusum were also present.
Guests of honour were Dr Sanjiv Malik (past President, Indian Medical Association), Dr Girish Tyagi (Registrar and Secretary, Delhi Medical Council), Dr Ashwini Dalmiya (President, Delhi Medical Association 2022-23 and 2023-24) and Dr Avtar Krishan (Secretary, DMA).
