India logs 1,134 new Covid-19 infections, active cases cross 7,000 mark

As per the latest data released by the Union Health Ministry on Wednesday, India has recorded 1,134 new cases of coronavirus, taking the country’s Covid case tally to 4.46 crore (4,46,98,118).

The number of active cases has increased to 7,026. The death toll has climbed to 5,30,813 with five new deaths reported in Chhattisgarh, Delhi, Gujarat, Maharashtra, and one reconciled in Kerala.

The daily positivity rate was recorded at 1.09%, while the weekly positivity rate stood at 0.98%.

The Ministry further informed that the total number of Covid tests conducted so far is 92.05 crore, with 1,03,831 tests conducted in the last 24 hours.

The number of people who have recovered from the disease surged to 4,41,60,279, while the case fatality rate was recorded at 1.19%. The active cases now comprise only 0.02% of the total infections, while the national Covid-19 recovery rate has been recorded at 98.79%.

India’s nationwide vaccination drive has been progressing steadily, with 220.65 crore doses of the Covid vaccine administered in the country so far, as per the ministry’s website. (With inputs from PTI)
