Gond art

What: India’s pioneering second-generation artist from the Pardhan Gond tradition — Venkat Raman Singh Shyam — is showcasing a body of new works in a solo exhibition titled, Clouds of Wings. The exhibition articulates his ideas of the world around him, once peopled with beloved gods, familiar flora and fauna with trees, birds and beasts hurtle into another time zone. The work explores identity and memory through a range of paintings that celebrate life and the incandescent beauty of nature that is in a state of constant flux by being generated and regenerated. Over the decades, Venkat’s trajectory has been not only to reclaim the songs and allegories of his ancestors, but also to impart his own unique perspective to it.

When: April 22 – May 30 (11 am – 7 pm)

Creating awareness

What: Based on true events, ‘I Remember’ narrates the experience of a woman and her family as they come to terms with the early onset of Alzheimer’s. To be screened by Kriti Film Club, the 50 minutes’ film depicts the struggle of the protagonist with her gradual loss of identity and lack of control over her own life.  Hopes, ambitions and dreams often fade away as their lives get disrupted in the absence of adequate institutional, social and emotional support. The screening will be followed by a discussion with the award-winning filmmaker Geeta Sahai, who specialises in mental health issues and gender.

Nostalgic night

What: Here’s an evening set to take you back in time. Get ready for a retro experience with beautiful music from late 80s and early 90s for a perfect Bollywood retro night with The Toll Road.

Previously known as Zephyr, The Toll Road is a Bollywood fusion band known for their amazing music and enthusiasm on stage. As a band, they like to make music for all kinds of audiences. Join in to watch them live, while enjoying some great delicacies and drinks.

When: April 19 (9 pm)
