Chameli Ramachandran’s solo art exhibition, titled “Offering”, is currently on display at Vadehra Art Gallery, D-40, Defence Colony. The exhibition opened on August 27 and will remain on view until September 16.

The art exhibition features watercolour paintings from around a decade ago, showcasing Ramachandran’s long-standing engagement with nature. Her works focus on the skeletal and spiritual structures of various flowers, shrubbery, and trees, such as lilies, chrysanthemums, orchids, hibiscus, and crotons, among others.

“Through her nature studies, Chameli explores the cycle of life,” said a gallery representative. The artist often uses flowers as metaphors for life and death, noting how their blooming and wilting parallel human existence.

“Ramachandran’s approach to nature has been described as meditative, using precise colour and texture to create a sense of balance and presence in her work,” said a gallery spokesperson.

“Born in 1940 in Santiniketan, West Bengal, Chameli Ramachandran studied at Kala Bhavana under renowned artists Benodebehari Mukherjee and Ramkinkar Baij. Her primary focus has always been nature, which she captures through a blend of Chinese meditative practices and Indian landscapes, particularly those in Bengal,” a representative added.
