Renowned Bharatanatyam dancer Malavika Sarukkai will present her latest production Beeja – Earth Seed*l at Kamani Auditorium on September 10. The performance, organised by Kalavaahini Trust and HCL Concerts, will be held from 7:30 PM to 9:00 PM. Tickets are priced from Rs 299 and are available on BookMyShow.
The 75-minute solo work uses Bharatanatyam to highlight ecological concerns and the impact of unchecked economic growth on the planet. The performance combines movement, poetry, music, sound design and lighting to explore themes of harmony, dissonance and renewal.
“Beeja – Earth Seed germinated from the realisation that in my lifetime, the planet has been exploited to dangerous levels in the name of economic growth,” Sarukkai said. “I wanted to centre the emotions and wisdom of non-human life, using Bharatanatyam as my language of expression.”

The production features a mix of live and recorded music and seeks to give voice to the tree, the deer and the swan, drawing attention to perspectives often absent from human-centred narratives.
