CONFLUENCE 24: An art exhibition by Welham alumni

CONFLUENCE 24: The Welham Old Boys Society (WOBS) announces the second edition of CONFLUENCE, a week-long group exhibition and community engagement initiative that will be held from June 15 to June 22, 2024, at The Stainless Gallery, New Delhi.

CONFLUENCE 24’s art exhibition will be open for public viewing from 11 am to 7 pm from June 16 to June 22, 2024.

The opening/preview of WOBS CONFLUENCE 24 will take place on the evening of June 15, 2024, by invitation only. The exhibition will be open to the general public starting June 16, 2024.

This eight-day group art exhibition will feature established and emerging artists, architects, designers, and photographers from diverse backgrounds.

During the exhibition, WOBS will announce the recipient of the Leela Mukherjee Artist Educator Grant Programme 2024. The details of this programme can be accessed on the official website of Mrinalini Mukherjee Foundation.

A series of parallel events are planned during CONFLUENCE 24, including conversations, talks, film screenings, and a line dance workshop by the group ‘Merry Feet.’

To promote books, WOBS is hosting Delhi-based publishing house Tulika Books, which will set up a display of books within the gallery space. Selected books on art, design, photography, music, dance, and non-commercial cinema will be available for sale.

The artists featured in CONFLUENCE 24 include prominent Indian artists Anupam Sud and Ananda Moy Banerji, known for their significant contributions to art education.

Other established artists include Akshay Raj Singh Rathore, Viveek Sharma, Partho Sen Gupta (National Creative Head of Times of India), and photographer-watercolorist Kunal Batra.

The witty documentary film ‘Wall Stories,’ centered on mural paintings in the western Garhwal Himalaya region around Dehradun, produced by internationally acclaimed Shashwati Talukdar, will be screened during CONFLUENCE 24.

Younger generation artists featured in the exhibition include Aryan Arora, a multi-disciplinary artist based in Singapore; New York-based photographer Nanki Singh, known for her social documentaries; artist Divyam Raghunath, an art director at a leading advertising company; L.A.-based filmmaker Shoaib Shawl; Upam Lahkar, whose artwork was a highlight of last year’s exhibition; NID alumni Saksham Singh; and artist Aliza Mirza.

Photographers featured in CONFLUENCE 24 include educator Nirupama Sekhri, Dr. Abhishek Gaurav, Kolkata-based businessman Harsh Bansal, wildlife conservationist Mohit Dang, and Khatwang Gupta and Ujjwal Gupta, both pursuing advertising and branding courses at NMIMS Mumbai.

CONFLUENCE 24 will also present artworks by Usha Chengappa, Divyaman Singh, Archita Bharadwaj, Harshi Agarwal, Guncha Sharma, Tushar Sharma, Delhi-based sculptor Pratima Narang, and artist Amrai Dua, who collaborates with SPA-trained architects Saakshar Makhija and Vrinda Wadhavan to produce innovative hand-painted furniture designs.
