Actor and poet Shailesh Lodha, widely known for his work in television, will make his theatre debut in the play “Dad’s Girlfriend.” Directed by Atul Satya Koushik, the production is scheduled to premiere at the Shri Ram Centre in New Delhi on Sunday, January 19. Two shows will be held on the same day at 4 PM and 7 PM.
The play follows the story of Animesh, a successful author and professor, who returns to India to reconnect with his estranged daughter Diya and her husband Kanav. The visit brings a mix of emotional and comedic situations, particularly as Kanav struggles to adjust to his father-in-law’s presence.
The arrival of Avni, a fan of Animesh, adds another layer of complexity to the story. Her frequent visits create tensions within the household, especially with Diya. The play explores themes of family relationships, generational conflicts, and the challenges of reconnecting in a modern world.

Director Atul Satya Koushik shares, “This play highlights the delicate nuances of family bonds, the humorous conflicts that arise from generational gaps, and how love and laughter can mend even the most fractured relationships.”
Reflecting on his theatrical debut, Shailesh Lodha adds, “Stepping into theatre has been a long-time aspiration and the next creative challenge I want to give to myself. I am thrilled to start this new chapter with a play that not only entertains but also resonates emotionally with audiences. I am sure they will leave the theatre with joy and warmth in their hearts.”
