Delhi to host Somnath Swabhiman Parv today

The Delhi government’s Sahitya Kala Parishad will organise Somnath Swabhiman Parv at Central Park in Connaught Place on Monday evening to mark 1,000 years of faith and heritage associated with the Somnath temple.

Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta will attend the cultural programme as the chief guest. Delhi’s Minister for Art, Culture and Language Kapil Mishra and Chief Secretary Rajeev Verma are also expected to be present at the event.

The programme, beginning at 5 pm, will feature a series of cultural and devotional performances dedicated to Lord Shiva.

According to organisers, the evening will open with Shiv Vedic chanting, followed by a Kathak presentation by disciples of Guru Malti Shyam. A Shiv Tandav dance production choreographed by Pandit Sanjay Kumar Sharma will also be staged.

The cultural line-up will also include devotional music by Sadho Band and a special performance by singer Master Saleem.

Officials from Sahitya Kala Parishad said the event aims to celebrate the enduring cultural and spiritual legacy associated with Somnath while showcasing classical and devotional art forms.
