The event will explore the term ‘azadi’ and the associated ‘swabhiman’ through Kathak and Kathakali performances, and traditional theatre. The first day will feature two performances: Padmashri Shovana Narayan’s “Roop-Vidroop” which is a re-enactment of the true emotional and heart-rending saga of an acid attack survivor, and “Kshaatra Baalaa”, a stree-vesham style of the dance form by Prabal Gupta. The second day will feature a hard-hitting play titled “Lallan Miss”, based on transgender Rajkumari‘s real-life story by Rama Pandey Natya Vidya Foundation. Guru Shovana’s Asavari Repertory is credited with many path-breaking works, sensitive portrayals of social issues and explorations of rhythmic dimensions in terms of soundscapes, emotional scapes, and thought-provoking presentations on various themes and subjects, which have been performed all over the country and abroad.
When: 10-11 August, 7 pm
