Tune in

What: Hello Farmaiish Delhi is a play that portrays women who find enterprising ways to traverse through time, distance and space.
Three misfits in a forgotten hamlet decide to create an experimental community radio to follow Kalpana Chawla’s odyssey to space. The daily broadcast takes them on a flight of imagination and misadventures. Hosting a show that explores the universe out of their reach, they soon find that it takes them to uncharted dimensions. They start getting calls — from people who wonder if buffaloes can fly, to advising a confounded farmer who confuses a black hole with a mole on his donkey’s hind quarters. The audience base keeps growing and the show becomes the top favourite radio broadcast for villagers. Drop by to find out what happens next.
When: September 22
Where: Kamani Auditorium, 1 Copernicus Marg

A cradle of culture

What: From his explorations of the exquisite natural beauty, magnificent flora and fauna and culture, photographer Shyamal Dutta has captured the life of North-east India’s tribes. His collection is a visual record of the uniqueness of tribal life — a way of life that is confronting the contradiction of modernity. Right from a family waking up at dawn, he shows how they light the fire in the hearth, cook and eat, after which all members leave for the hills to tend to their crops and return at sunset. With this exhibition he hopes to evoke curiosity and interest in tribes whose traditional way of life is disappearing as modernity takes over.
When: September 12- 21 (11 am – 7 pm)
Where: India International Centre, Max Mueller Marg
