Khawbedaa Dastan
What: For all those who are fascinated with the eloquence of Urdu, Chakor Lakeerein is organising Dastangoi, a 13th century art form of Urdu storytelling that evolved in the 16th century. The early Datangois recited tales about magic, war and adventure. This was later revived in 2005. Get immersed in the magic of the language as they present dastan of Harishankar Parsai, a noted satirist and humourist of modern Hindi literature. Dastans are mostly in Urdu but plans are afoot to blend in Hindi, and creating a crisp bi-lingual flow.

Films fiesta

What: Cinephiles and budding filmmakers, gear up for one of the biggest film festivals of India. Jagran Film Festival is back with its ninth edition, to create a platform that offers audiences across the country some of the greatest films from around the world. Starting from Delhi, it will travel across 18 cities in India to create a culture of cinematic appreciation. The cast and crew of a few selected films will be invited to discuss with the audience various aspects and impact of cinema on society.
When: June 29 – July 3

Comedy of errors
What: It all starts when Babu Badrinath goes missing from Lucknow. His son declares a cash prize for whoever can find and bring back his father. Seizing this opportunity, several greedy men try to get their hands on the money by wrong means. The ordeal doesn’t end here. Three identical people turn up claiming to be the real father. To find out who the real father is, watch ‘Baap re Baap’ a family comedy.

What: Film aficionados across the city, here is the chance to enjoy a rare and rich ensemble of films by directors from different parts of the world. With an aim to bring back the classical era of films, Navrasa Duende Classic Movie Festival features films from Sweden, Italy, France and Japan, to name a few. From blockbusters to movies of the neo-realistic cinema movement, the festival includes a variety of genres. Experience the best cinema the world has to offer.

Bollywood and Bachchan
What: A die-hard fan of Amitabh Bachchan from UP is tired of performing at the local Ramleela. His dreams are much bigger and the praise he gets from local performances are inadequate. He wants to be a big star like his idol. Join Vijay Deenath Chauhan, the protagonist of Main Bhi Bachchan on his journey from his town to the busy streets of Mumbai, while his beloved Rekha waits for him in his town. Catch this humorous musical packed with songs and dances from Bollywood.

Mesmerising Meghalaya

What: Meghalaya — the land of hills, rains and cascading waterfall — becomes the hub of international creative exchange for one month every year. Through the art residency programme, ‘Abode of Clouds’, professional artist from Slovakia, Czech Republic, Hungary, Spain, France, Bangladesh and India come together and exchange their creative ideas with local art enthusiasts. All their paintings will be showcased in an exhibition which will reflect the essence and spirit of Meghalaya through the eyes of the artists.
When: June 9-18 (11 am – 7 pm)
