UNCONVENTIONAL FORM
Art curator Simran KS Lamba has organised an exhibition titled “Metamorphosis of Formations in Tar” on mixed media art – a term that has been exhaustively used to describe the alignment of any two-separate media on the same base. Lamba’s work span over a decade, with ‘tar’ being her primary medium. Its lucid execution in this study of form and figures brings to fore industrial elements and waste material, which are being used to highlight veritable figurative formations hiding behind dense layers of alternative media such as encaustic wax, jute and highlighted through his chosen medium of expression; tar in paintings such as “Familial Conversations”. Her work challenges the notion of the conventional beauty and structure in both form and structure; ‘the existential weight of beauty’ borne by a subject and the juxtaposition of the use of common everyday objects, such as nails and metal washers and filigree to bring out each material intrinsic comment via its application on the context of each painting created, such as the tar painting on wood titled “Queen of Thorns”. This is a unique exhibition and a must visit for all the art lovers!

A one of its kind art exhibition has been organised along with 14 renowned artists – Paresh Maity, Satish Gujral, Manoj Dutta, K. Laxma Goud, MF Hussain, Neeraj Goswami, Paritosh Sen, Ram Kumar, Badri Narayan, Maite Deltei, Jogen Chowdhury, Thota Vaikuntam, Sanjay Bhattacharya and Jayasri Burman. The main purpose of this exhibition is to investigate different materials that artists will engage with to explore their subjectivity and expressions. This was when he briefly experimented with abstracts, which was a means for him to remove the limitations of painting a landscape. Another one is the masterful paintings of village life by K. Laxma Goud, which are an interesting combination of village nostalgia. Special highlight is a pair of exquisite bronze sculptures by Satish Gujral and some vibrant pieces by Manoj Dutta depicting the pictorial idioms of simple concepts with fantasy elements. Apart from that, a special curated selection of pieces by masters like Paritosh Sen, Ram Kumar, Badri Narayan contributed to this magnificent and enchanting art exhibition.
