Artist Mohd Israr’s solo exhibition ‘Galliyon se Guzarti Nazar’ (A Glance Through the Lane) is
currently on view at the Annexe Art Gallery, offering visitors a reflective journey through the narrow
streets and quiet corners of an old city.

Inaugurated on June 24 by eminent artist Rajesh Mehra, with Professor Gazanfar Jaidi—art educationist
and photographer—as guest of honour, the exhibition showcases a collection of evocative works in
watercolour, ink, and charcoal. Each piece captures moments of urban solitude, heritage, and
stillness, interpreted through Israr’s deeply personal lens.

The exhibition invites viewers to experience the intimacy of forgotten alleys and lived spaces,
rendered with poetic precision and atmospheric depth.

In a concept note accompanying the exhibition, Israr describes Galliyon se Guzarti Nazar as “an intimate journey through the narrow streets and quiet corners of an old city, seen through the eyes of an artist. This exhibition captures everyday moments that often go unnoticed—the worn walls, the flickering light, the quiet pauses between the hustle. Through watercolour, ink, and charcoal, I aim to bring to life the subtle moods of these lanes—the play of light and shadow, the textures of time, and the human presence felt in fleeting glimpses.”

“These paintings are not just landscapes but stories waiting to be told, frozen moments that speak quietly about the passage of time, labour, and life. The gaze here is thoughtful and unhurried. It moves slowly, observing the beauty in small details, the resilience of old structures, and the rhythms of daily life that shape the character of the city,” he added.

Galliyon se Guzarti Nazar will remain open to the public daily from 11:00 AM to 7:00 PM until July 1,
2025. Entry is free.

When: Until July 1; 11:00 AM to 7:00 PM
