Forms ////Formation, a group exhibition, will be held at The Stainless Gallery in New Delhi from February 3 to 16. The exhibition explores the theme of collaboration and how artists’ work evolves when they come together. The title, “space forms space four forward slashes formation,” reflects the idea of how different artists’ work can shape and influence each other over time.
The idea for this exhibition started after the Rupantar exhibition last year, curated by Dr Alka Pande at The Visual Arts Gallery, New Delhi. In that show, five founding members of the Multiple Encounters group came together to showcase works from 1980 to 2024. Their journey began when they formed the Indian Printmakers Guild at the Lalit Kala Academy‘s Artist Studio in Garhi, and over the years, they found ways to collaborate despite different artistic beliefs and methods.
FORMS ////FORMATION expands on this idea by exploring how collaborations form, how they evolve, and how artists continue to work together despite having different approaches. The exhibition looks at what brings artists together, how their roles change over time, and how their work is shaped by cooperation.

The exhibition features over 80 pieces of art, including paintings, sculptures, traditional printmaking, photography, and ceramics. These works were created over eight months through conversations and exchanges between the artists. The artists range from senior figures to emerging talents, and they bring both individual and collaborative experiences to the exhibition.
Prominent artists featured include Ira Chaudhuri, a well-known ceramist, and Anupam Sud, a painter and printmaker. Other key participants include sculptor Biman Das, photographer Aditya Arya, and senior artists Ananda Moy Banerji, Dattatraya Apte, Sushanta Guha, and Kishore Chakraborty, who are part of the Multiple Encounters group. The exhibition will also showcase works by Yusuf, a senior artist from Bhopal, and the late Rini Dhumal, whose work focused on women’s strength and power.
Dr. Sanjeev Kishor Goutam, Director General of the National Gallery of Modern Art (NGMA), will also have his work featured, along with mid-career artists like Alita Chandra, Prasanta Kalita, Madhur Sen, and Saurabh Narang. Additionally, young artists Annu Gupta, Priyanka Batra, and Nanki Singh will exhibit their work.
FORMS ////FORMATION is an exploration of how artists collaborate, learn from each other, and grow together, creating a unique artistic experience for all who visit.
