The Japan Film Festival will kickstart in the first week of November across four metropolitan cities in India, in celebration of 70th anniversary of bilateral ties between the two countries.

The event will be hosted by the Japan Foundation in collaboration with the Embassy of Japan in India and PVR Cinemas, in Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, and Bengaluru. It will begin in Delhi and last for three days before moving to Mumbai and Chennai. The festival will conclude in Bengaluru.

The Japan Film and Music Festival is returning after a gap of three years. The Event will commence with a speech by Koji Sato, Director General, Japan Foundation, New Delhi, along with other guests and dignitaries, including Mr. Kawazu Kunihiko, Chargés d’affaires ad interim of Japan to India and Shalu Sabharwal, Sr. Vice President, Sales & Marketing, PVR Limited.

On the first day, the ‘Your Name Orchestra Concert’ by RADWIMPS and the Tokyo Philharmonic Orchestra will be featured. With their exceptional work, the RADWIMPS has been able to generate a strong fan base, especially among the youth.

The band’s music for the groundbreaking animated feature films “Your Name.” and “Weathering with You” earned them Japanese Academy Award nominations for Best Original Score. Their musical activities extend well beyond Japan.

Next up will be two days of Screening Schedule that will feature eight different movies and musical performances, including ‘Weathering With You’, ‘5 Centimeters per Second’, ‘Your Name (Orchestra Concert)’ , ‘The Garden of Words’, ‘Forever in the Daze Tour’, ‘Your Name (Movie)’, ‘The Place Promised in Our Early Days’ and Children Who Chase Lost Voices.

Japan seeks to widen the breadth of cultural interactions on a global scale through this event. The institution’s goal was to improve awareness of different cultures and promote theirs across the world, and the upcoming events are a tremendous start in that direction.
