On the occasion of World Theatre Day, Theatre Leela is set to present another exceptional play titled “Khalid ki Khala”. The acting company has produced and performed numerous plays in the past, and their upcoming production promises to be yet another masterpiece. The event will start at 5.00 PM on March 27, 2023 at Little Theatre Group, Copernicus Marg, Mandi House.
Directed by Varun Sharma, the play is a homage to the late Begum Qudsia Zaidi, who was a stalwart of the performing arts. The cast and crew are excited to present their work on World Theatre Day and pay their respects to the legendary Begum.
The play’s director, Varun Sharma expressed his excitement for the upcoming show and its significance on World Theatre Day. “The entire cast and crew are thrilled to present the play on such a special day, and we hope to pay a memorable homage to Our Begum Qudsia Zaidi, who is no longer with us but has left an indelible mark on the world of theatre,” Sharma told The Patriot.
“Theatre is not just about the art of performing, but also about the regularity, sincerity, and punctuality required to bring a production to life,” Sharma said.
Namarata, who plays the character of Khala said, “The narrative of the play is full of twists and turns, leading to the mysterious revelation behind ‘Khala’s’ true identity and leaving everyone in shock. End of the play brings a bittersweet and humorous feeling inside the audience’s heart.”
“We are eagerly waiting to see the audience’s reaction and hope that they enjoy the show as much as we have enjoyed performing it for them,” she said.
The play revolves around two young lovers, Khalid and Ahmad, who seek the assistance of Khalid’s ‘Khala’ to win over their crushes. However, their plan takes an unexpected turn, leading to a hilarious and heartwarming conclusion.
