In an upcoming solo art exhibition, New York-based Israeli painter Yigal Ozeri will present his work ‘My Territory’ that embodies a retrospective character serving as a compilation of his most significant four series from the past decade.

Presented by Bruno Art Group, it will be the artist’s first solo exhibition in India and will open on October 12 at the Bikaner House in New Delhi. It will present artworks that have not been unveiled elsewhere before, alongside significant fresh creations, including a selection of large-scale installations.

With over 25 paintings on display, the focus will be on the ideas of people, nature, cities, and moments that the artist has experienced and witnessed himself. Together these experiences form a path of the artist’s very personal life journey.

‘My Territory’ is Ozeri’s search for his own personal history through the traces of his painting style. The highlight of this exhibition is a new series of five paintings depicting Delhi. These pieces were specially created for this exhibition. The paintings are hyperreal, figurative images that document contemporary street life of the capital city of India.

Yigal Ozeri’s works are also on display at the ongoing Bihar Museum Biennale as part of an Israeli group show. Titled ‘In Another Green’, Ozeri’s works are shown along with Leor Grady and Joseph Dadoune. Together, these Israeli artists traverse diverse mediums to build cross-cultural bridges with India through the language of art.

The exhibition will also feature a body of work focused on beautiful women amid vast landscapes. The paintings interweave the illusion of the dreamlike, cinematic world of pictorial realism (paintings such as “Shely in the Water” and “Priscilla in Ecstasy” from “The Women in Nature” series), that Ozeri has exhibited internationally over the past decade. There will be over 10 paintings from the latest series “A New York Story” and “Americana” that represent the recent shift in the artist’s work, with the focus on revealing the urban dynamics of the metropolitan city of New York.

When: 6 – 9 pm; October 12 – 22

Where: Bikaner House, New Delhi
